Karachi’s best kept secrets – Part 4
Moving along nicely aren’t we? Well the next one in line should again be called the WORST kept secret but I just have to put it here cuz it’s one of my favorite spots and I love going there for their Devil’s Own. Yup, I am talking about the Cafe Coffee Day. With it’s brightly lit up setup to the medium to low prices to the decent size servings you cannot go wrong at CCD. With three floors there’s plenty of seating space, however the basement is sometimes booked and that’s when things get a little crowded. The basement was the place to hang out for us during the World Cup……… actually we only went there for two matches. Hey, it’s not our fault that Pakistan got kicked out after two matches
But it got hot really soon, even though they have an ac running there, but i guess they either need one more or need to turn off some of the lights there.

Anyway, I like cold coffee instead of the usual hot coffee and this is the only place where I can get a selection of cream blended coffees and that too without going into triple digits for a single serving. My personal favorites are Choco Frappe and Sizzling Brownie and of course the Devil’s Own. I just wish they’d add some more snack items to their menu besides the usual sandwiches. Ohhh what I’d give to have Devil’s Own and Sizzling Brownie with chicken nachos from Latitude.
As for the pricing issue, I don’t know why an Indian chain is providing coffee at half the price as compared to our home grown chains?? Any answers besides the usual one of how they are just plain greedy?

Indians know how to do business. And Pakistanis usually follow the “Allah de ga” theory.
IF I ever go…my memeories of Karacho are all associated with my marriage and hubby, etc. So right now…don’t even like thinking of Karachi.
BUT if Mr. ‘where the heck is he!’ ONE comes along and if I go with him to Kar. will contact you for food places!
hmm…you love food don’t ya? Guess I know who to contact if I ever go to Karachi.
to gain market share!
Ofcourse i love food. Any self respecting Karachitte you’ll meet will be a food lover and even if they aren’t they wont admit it
waisay if ur Mr where the heck is he will be from karachi then you will not be needinng to contact me where the food places are concerned. He’ll know each and everyone of em himself
Hani: But that means that the others will have to fight back by reducing their prices right? So far that hasn’t happened.
Waisay that’s one of the best part of Karachi isn’t it? The food for food lovers like us!
Wait!!! Now you are insulting all the Karachites
Cheee, you really know how to make friends dont you
waisay yes, the food here is the best….. u can get anything and everything you want.
Zag…I’ve come in contact with 2 Karachites lately…my ex and you…not leaving a good impression on me!
hahaha.. Can you tell I’ve been reading “How to win friends and influence people”? :p
You know, someone played a prank on you by taking the book “how to make enemies without any effort” and tore the cover and placed the cover of “How to win friends and influence people”…..
Yep! And isn’t it working like a charm to ward off people like you?
Oh and I hope you aren’t taking all this ribbing seriously….you never can tell with over-emotional people.
ohhh not just me….. i am sure it is working like a charm in your class as well
Should we take a vote from the students? I bet all of em take you as Nate takes Mrs. Godfrey…. heck even that’d be an improvement… Lol
Sure, take a vote! Be my guest…well, not mine, someone else guest pleeeassssee! If the kids ‘bother to listen to you’ in the first place…they do have standards you know…you’ll find out what a favorite I am with all my kids.
been there – was too loud and too bright. menu was nothing impressive – or i was just too distracted and put off with the blaring noise and the glaring lights.
chatterbox is out fave hangout – coz of the serenity…lattetude is also ok for the sofas…roasters’ too loud again. but gelato anytime…for the capp and blueberry cheesecake and chocoberry with dark choc icecream – *drool*

You know, someone played a prank on you by taking the book “how to make enemies without any effort†and tore the cover and placed the cover of “How to win friends and influence peopleâ€â€¦..
yes, i’ve been there, some how if u are a cold cofee lover, do try the cold cofee from Happy Ice Cream at the bahadurabad chowrangi(where they have built an old fashioned masjid). It’ll only cost u rs. 35/- and its a small shop. U’ll get ur order in the car. Do try it out and u’ll love it for sure! It was better than what i had at indulge and other places, indulge is just too expensive and they dont even give half the volume of what u get at happy ice cream for much less amount.
Wow, thanks for the tip Sarfaraz. Will try it out, as I just can’t get enough of cold coffee
