Hello or WTF Moment of the day
There are days in a bloggers life when he can sit and stare at the monitor for hours and can’t come up with anything worthwhile to post. Then there are days where something happens that you just can’t wait to blog about and today was such a day for me.
I was driving my son to school, minding my own business of course, when two girls crossed the road in front of my car, both were wearing burqa, one of them was also wearing a veil while the other one had her face uncovered. I being a gentleman that I am, slowed down my car so that they can cross the road, when all of a sudden, out of nowhere, in the middle of the road, the girl without the veil reached for the other girl’s veil and in one swift motion pulled it down revealing the other girl’s face. Now I don’t know about anyone else, but I haven’t seen anything like this before, so that was my Hello or WTF moment of the day.
And as a sprinkle of top of the WTF moment, as I was walking back to my car after walking my son to his school, I realized that the woman walking in front of me was wearing a shalwar kameez made out of the most flimsy, see thru fabric there can ever be. Now this is not unusual sight in Karachi during summers, but this is December, and while Karachi’s winters can best be called mild, but this morning it was a little windy and my son who was wearing a sweater was complaining again and again that he was cold and I myself who already had two layers of clothing was thinking a shawl wouldn’t have been a bad idea. In this kind of weather the first thing I thought about was “Man, she wouldn’t need any glass cutter right now†and then I lowered my gaze and thanked God that I didn’t said it out loud
