Zong’s Huawei IDEOS – My Experience so far
I bought Huawei IDEOS when Zong reduced their price from Rs 15,999 to Rs 10,999. I wanted to move to an android phone however, after my last experience with iPhone, I didn’t want to spend a bundle only to get it stolen.
At this price it looked hard to beat so I took the plunge. Initially I thought I’d get it hacked to remove the Zong only restriction, but for that, I had to pay another Rs 2,000, which is a lot on a phone that cost around 10K. Therefore I ported my number to Zong via MNP, which was free.
After 4 months of usage, here’s my honest opinion of the phone:
Pros:
- It’s cheap
- It’s small in size and very lightweight
- Build quality is very good, in fact most people mistake it for HTC and are shocked when I tell them I bought it from Zong and the price.
- Touch screen is excellent
Cons:
- Small screen size makes it hard to type, especially in portrait mode.
- Small screen resolution combined with a slower processor means 80% of Android apps won’t work properly on this phone.
- Slow processor + Low RAM means you can’t load too many apps on the phone otherwise it will slow down like anything.
- Battery Life: Will barely get you thru the day.
Conclusion:
This is a phone to go for only if you don’t want to shell out cash for full fledged android phones such as Samsung Galaxy series or HTC Desire/Sensation etc. With this phone, you get what you pay for and that is partly Android experience. Get it only if you can’t go to other high end devices. The resale of this phone will practically be nothing, mainly because of the Zong only restriction. However, you can use it to your advantage by getting a good bargain if you know someone who is using this phone but wants to upgrade to a better one.
P.S. You can get the same phone from Ufone as well, however, it is priced at Rs 11,999/- However, the additional 1K will bring you three different color back covers.

I just bought this handset two days ago from zong’s university road franchise (for 7k) and I have to say this phone is simply awesome!! Since this is my first android phone therefore I am genuinely impressed with its interface and looks. Here are some of the key features of the handset
), Traffic Rush(Similar to iphone’s road rush), Galaxy and many more.
*The battery lasts for about 1.5-2 days at normal usage (besides, the battery heavily depends on the number of apps you are running, whether or not you are using wifi etc.)
*Some of the apps such as Stair Dismount, Fruit Ninja, Cut the Rope etc will not work. The apps that will work are Talking Tom (hilarious
*The phone will slow down if you have opened too many apps. But you can close the apps using Advanced Task Killer
*The phone’s box only contains a Charger, Data cable, Blue colored handset (You cannot choose the color, only blue is available), User Manual, Safety guide and hands-free (no memory card or extra casing)
*The screen is not that attractive. It cannot be compared with the other high-end android phones. Nevertheless its more than what you should expect from a 7k phone.
